Google Maps offers a comprehensive site sharing feature that makes it easy for you to share your location with your loved ones, you also have the option to share your location via a dedicated link, set the time to share the location, and select the contacts you want to share details with.
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Tap the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Select Share location.
- Click Share location.
- Give the Maps app access to your contacts by pressing Allow.
- Select how long you want to share your site, then go to (until this stops) if you want to share your site for a long time.
- Select a contact you want to share your location with, if a specific contact is not yet listed, choose an app from the list at the bottom of the page to share your site’s link.
- Click (Share) to start sharing your location.
- You will now see a message at the bottom of the screen indicating that your location has been shared with the selected contact.
- To stop sharing your location, all you have to do is tap the menu at the bottom of the screen and select (Off).
Maps also allow you to broadcast your location in real-time via a dedicated link by following these steps:
- Click (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Select Share location.
- Choose (Share via link).
- Click Copy Link.
- Click the add person icon in the upper right corner.
- Choose the app you want to share the unique URL of your current site.
With this option, you will be able to email the link or send it via WhatsApp, (Signal), Twitter, or any messaging platform of your choice, as in sharing your location with a contact within the Google Maps app, and you can set a time limit until Broadcast your site in real-time.
In addition to broadcasting your location within the Google Maps app, you will be able to share your progress while using Maps navigation step by step, as the location sharing feature takes advantage of your phone’s GPS signal, and continues to broadcast your location, until you turn it off manually or the time limit is reached. It is worth noting that the participation of the site is accurate up to 10 meters.
